Credit Compliance Officer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: College Degree with basic courses in accounting and financial analysis recommended or equivalent work experience. 5 years experience in regulatory compliance of banking laws and regulations, recommended but not required. Working knowledge of complex database systems.  Personal computer skills must include proficiencies in the use of Microsoft Windows and network environments. Must be able to identify and define problems; research and analyze information and various situations relating to data management issues.  Must be able to recommend alternatives or solutions. Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to discuss and offer alternative or solutions to retail credit compliance issues with any level of staff person. Should have a general knowledge of accounting principles. Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize work to achieve the required objective in a timely manner.  Requires minimal supervision. Must be flexible, able to work on multiple projects that may require restructuring due to demands unforeseen events and changing priorities.

JOB OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day consumer credit compliance programs.  The Officer will develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures, coordinate and/or perform monitoring of the bank's compliance with consumer laws and regulations, provide compliance support for implementation of product/system enhancements, and provide training to bank personnel.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Develops, implements and manages compliance risk for consumer credit regulations. Administers a monitoring program for all products and processes as necessary to ensure compliance and corrective action, if appropriate. Provides compliance guidance for implementation of changes to consumer credit products and services required by: 1) new or amended laws and regulations, 2) product changes, 3) system conversions.  Reviews, rewrites, and approves related change of terms, bank forms, documents and brochures for compliance with laws and regulations. Provides consumer credit regulatory compliance training for bank personnel/branches/ departments. Training includes basic regulatory training, as well as department/branch specific periodic training. Reviews and approves or develops written material (circulars, SPM, marketing collateral, statement messages, etc) for loan products and operations changes to ensure compliance. Obtains and maintains proficient knowledge of consumer laws and regulations; specifically, all laws and regulations relating to retail credit products.  Obtains and maintains knowledge of bank services, policies and procedures.
