Credit Union Branch Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the operations in remote credit union offices. Accountable for working directly with the COO in a cooperative manner not only in the management of the office but also in specific areas of accountability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Take personal responsibility to actively listen to members, understand their needs, and take the initiative to help the member as your first priority. While a specific position may have little direct member contact, every position at the Credit Union supports the member.
2. Fully comply with all information security procedures set forth by the credit union in an effort to protect the members' information.
3. Oversee the daily operations of the office. Supervisory responsibilities would include:
¨ Communicate job expectations to staff, evaluate performance against those expectations on a constant basis, providing continual coaching and guidance, and counseling as needed. Work with direct reports on their Training and Development (T&D) Plans and review the T&D Plans for staff reporting to your direct reports.
¨ Give formal annual written performance reviews to direct reports.
¨ Participate in the hiring process and be actively involved in the training and development of new employees.
¨ Establish staff schedules for the office. Maintain hours and schedules of all personnel, verify staff time cards, and maintain record of vacation, sick leave, and overtime.
4. Oversee and assist with all aspects of daily operations, these include:
¨ Teller transactions and member service functions
¨ Lending and collection functions.
¨ Responsible for handling unusual or complex circumstances as the need arises.
¨ Opening and closing procedures, control of cash levels and the adequate supply of inventory.
¨ Maintain prescribed security controls to protect the office against criminal and fraudulent operations and unnecessary risk or exposure.
¨ Maintain the office appearance at a high standard, insure that all marketing materials are up to date, and rate boards are accurate.
¨ Handle and maintain office supplies.
¨ Review all vendor invoices, approve, and forward for payment to the Accounting Department.
¨ Be the lead person to handle maintenance and other issues with the building including working with landscapers, snow shoveling, HVAC and all other items as it pertains to building maintenance.
¨ Responsible for handling all loan requests for those The Credit Union employees working in the office.
5. Lead the Relationship Building and Sales function for the office, setting the example and tone for the credit union brand. Other Relationship/Sales responsibilities include:
¨ Consistently meet and exceed the Office sales and service goals that are defined annually.
¨ Promote credit union products and services in the office through marketing promotions and one-on-one interactions.
¨ Develop and maintain close relationships with SEGs, vendors, and other business partners.
¨ Approve or deny loan applications up to the assigned approval limit, work with Consumer Underwriting for approval above assigned limit, including credit history research.
¨ Provide referrals to Business and Real Estate Lending as appropriate.
¨ Communicate to staff the Office goals and work diligently and creatively with the staff to set individual goals. Continually monitor performance, adjusting individual goals and initiating action plans, as needed to meet goals.
6. Prepare monthly Activity Reports and other statistical reports as required. Meet on a regular basis with the COO/Director SCO to discuss Office performance.
7. Responsible for assisting in the development of annual budgets for the office and updating/tracking the progress of these budgets throughout the year.
8. Assist with Functional Cost Analysis.
9. Responsible for coordination with local service providers maintenance or repair activities as required.
10. Attend Staff meetings and update staff on any pertinent changes within the credit union environment
11. Promote awareness of the credit union through involvement in community organizations and volunteering.
12. Available during the majority of the Office hours to support questions, issues, or staffing needs that may arise.
13. Handle other duties that may be unique to a given office. These include:
¨ Coordinate all activities in the community room including blood drives, voting, training sessions and other activities.
¨ Responsible for communication with Management regarding any pertinent plan developments or changes in the local community.
¨ Actively pursue new business development. This would include increasing visibility in the local community, visiting nearby Trane locations, visiting existing SEG groups, and adding new SEG groups.
14. Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all employee information and member business confidential and in a secured location.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Senior Vice President / COO and Director, National Service Centers, with any additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
¨ Broad knowledge of general professional or specialized technical field such as finance, accounting, marketing, or a related business field equivalent to four years of college and a Bachelor’s Degree.
¨ Position requires the ability to establish self as a leader, to not only perform in a leadership role, but to also be recognized by others as a leader
¨ Work involves contact with the public, necessitating the ability to present a professional image and have proven sales skills.
¨ Must have proficient PC skills, including experience using Microsoft Office products, Word and Excel.
¨ Consumer and mortgage lending experience.
¨ Self-starter, capable of working with general instructions and minimal supervision.
¨ Work requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and to be flexible to the needs of the office.
¨ Knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
¨ Effective management and interpersonal skills, must be able to effectively communicate well with vendors, SEGs, management and membership.
¨ Four or more years of financial institution experience; Credit Union experience preferred.
¨ Minimum 3 years supervisory experience is required.
