Job Description Database Engineer We are looking for an Oracle Database Engineer on behalf of our client, Fidelity Investments. This position is based in Boston, MA (53 State Street) until this September and then relocates with the department to Smithfield, RI.  This is a 6 month contract role with a strong chance of extension or permanent offer for a successful candidate.   Position Purpose/Objective:The Investment Analytics Group (IAG) provides significant decision support application development and assistance for the global Pyramis investment teams, most specifically: Fund Mangers, Quantitative and Fundamental Research, Investment Services, Trading and Product Management. Major Responsibilities:·Develop Oracle based applications to primarily support the IAG programmers.· Share Operational Support & Control for a 24/7 production Oracle warehouse environment.Mandatory:A successful candidate should have the following - · 2 to 3 years of hands-on SQL Database development experienceo  preferred: Oracle 9i and 10G databaseso  demonstrated strong SQL skills·2+ years experience with data transformation, validation and loading· Basic understanding of the Financial Services Industry and some knowledge of Financial Market Data. Desirable Skills: Experience with financial market data Above average analytic and problem-solving skills Experience with SQL optimization and performance tuning is a plus 2+ years Unix systems/Shell scripting experience is preferred Other:· Bachelor's degree (MIS, Computer Science, Math or Finance a plus)· MUST be willing to work in Smithfield, Rhode Island Veritude is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and supports a diversified environment.
