Database Programmer

The Database Programmer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and future enhancements of existing MS Access applications. Maintains data, database objects, and program code in company databases to facilitate deal origination, portfolio management, internal and external reporting, and company-wide process improvements. Also assists all personnel with database questions and issues, and other computer related problems as may arise from time to time.The Programmer will participate with others as a team, defining business requirements, translating business requirements into specifications, implementing in applications, and maintaining and enhancing existing MS Access database applications, as required. You will be responsible for developing reports for various departments, upper management and investors as required. Makes effective use of MS Access and other software products to facilitate querying data from the database and creating reports as required. This includes but is not limited to creating applications, spreadsheets, reports, queries, tables, and code to provide accurate, timely information.In addition, you will be responsible for working knowledge of overall company products and processes and thorough knowledge of reporting functions and processes. Should be pro-active in seeking ways to further automate Company processes in order to facilitate portfolio management and reporting and to achieve department and company goals.The Database Programmer acts as a technical resource, assisting others as needed with the use and function of the databases, and the use of various software products and computer-related issues. Advising on the setting of data entry requirements and standards, monitoring quality and completeness of data, and maintaining technical documentation related to the databases.A college degree or technical certification is required. Must have computer course work in these areas: MS Access, Visual Basic, SQL, MS Excel or other related courses.Candidate must have two years experience in MS Access development in a client/server database environment. High skill level in MS Access, Visual Basic for Applications, Office applications interoperability, Windows XP environment. Knowledge of Visual Basic, SQL Server, and their respective development environments a plus. Possesses high degree of computer literacy and knowledge of relational databases.Candidate must have excellent communication skills, the ability to develop a detailed understanding of business processes, and be able to translate this understanding into technical specifications. Background in real estate or finance desirable. Must work well in a team environment and be able to effectively work with the user community.
