Our client is a litigation boutique headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, and represents institutional investors in securities and corporate governance litigation throughout the United States.  As one of the nations’s fasting growing and most respected firms, they are currently seeking a talented and experienced Director of Finance to join their team.

 

Job Summary:

 

 

 

 

The Director of Finance is responsible for the effective operation and management of the financial and accounting operations of the Firm.  Responsibilities include all areas of accounting and finance such as budgeting, planning, taxation, reporting, compliance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, vendor management, client invoicing and financial reporting. 

 

This is very visible role in the firm and it will require the ability to multi task, balance multiple large projects, and work in an extremely fast paced high pressure environment.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of achieving goals in a “hands on” role with minimal daily direction.  The Director of Finance is the most senior financial position in the firm and will have tremendous upside potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

 To obtain, record, and verify financial data for use in maintaining financial recordsExecute the daily accounting operations of the Firm including:  accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor dispute and charge-back handling, client invoicing and financial reportingDevelop, implement, and/or maintain financial policies, procedures and controlsConduct financial analyses to identify cost containment opportunitiesDevelop and ensure timely distribution of financial statements and key financial performance indicators (productivity reports, line of business P&L’s with corrective action recommendations, operations cost analysis reports, etc.)Effective asset management to ensure accuracy and tax-benefit maximizationEffective cash management to meet the Firm’s business objectives

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:Accountable for the effective deployment of efficient accounting standards and supportive business processes throughout the FirmDirects operations of Firm-wide financial systems including cost and time capture systemsProvides hands-on involvement and support of Firm-wide financial projects and accountable for ultimate success of such projectsPlans and executes feasibility studies; surveys new and/or emerging financial management technologies and/or regulations including economic justifications of proposed versus existing systems and/or methodsPerforms other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Director of Finance directly supervises an accounting staff of two (2) and assigned vendor resources.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:Excellent knowledge of business objectives and ability to identify and execute accounting and/or reporting requirements to meet those objectivesExcellent management skillsProficient with general ledger accounting, processes, and controls required to ensure accurate financial recordsProficient with cash-basis financial reporting standardsEffective understanding of tax-basis financial reporting standards and requirementsExcellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation, human relations and organization skills. Able to resolve problems in a timely mannerProficient with Microsoft Office, expertise in Excel

Education and Work Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting requiredMinimum of eight (8) or more years of accounting and financial management experience with at least five (5) or more years in departmental management roleExperience working in a law firm or a corporate environment a plus
