FHA Underwriter

The FHA Underwriter is responsible for the review, risk assessment and underwriting of FHA loans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Reviews file for compliance with FHA underwriting guidelinesUses automated underwriting systems (DU/LP) for assistance in risk assessmentComplies and distributes FHA information to processing and sales staffAssist sales staff with structuring FHA files for submissionEducates processing staff in FHA and state bond programsResponsible for payment of up front MIP to HUD on a weekly basisReviews condominium documents for FHA conditions which impact insuringMakes manual underwriting decisions outside the scope of DU/LPMentors staff members to achieve direct endorsement authorityUnderstands office goals as set by management and assists in meeting those goalsIdentifies and resolves problems in a timely mannerAccepts assignments varying in size and scope, as well as other duties assigned

High School diploma or general education degree

Minimum three years mortgage related experience in post-closing and warehouse line management.
