Financial Examiners working for the Division of Banking are assigned to assist in the conduct of bank examinations responsible for assuring compliance with rules, regulations and other controls affecting businesses engaged in financial transactions with Wisconsin's banking consumers; perform auditing and financial examination work; write reports, record findings and work with key staff in helping to assure continued strength and stability throughout Wisconsin’s financial industry; work to educate businesses and consumers about lending practices and laws governing financial services; monitor the activities of individual lenders and the lending industry as a whole for compliance with rules, policies, procedures, practices and statutes; work to assure that sound lending practices are taking place; make recommendations of appropriate corrective measures to include issuance of formal warnings, suspensions, fines, etc.; and, participate in pro-active measures to help avoid fraudulent, deceptive, unfair or unstable financial business practices. This vacancy is located in our Eastern territory. Note: The candidate hired into the position will live within the territory and have their home designated as their headquarters city.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Well qualified applicants will typically have a four year or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, complemented by work experience in the financial services industry or other related.  Knowledge of the financial services (banking) industry; contemporary business structures; general business and financial management practices;  lending and investment principles; accounting and auditing theory; skill in analyzing complex financial records and business record keeping systems; utilization of computer software packages; well developed skills in speaking and writing and the ability to comprehend and apply complex policies, rules and laws.
