Job Description Global Plus Software Engineer We are looking for a Software Engineer on behalf of our client, Fidelity Investments. This position is based in Boston, MA. SummaryThe Fidelity Capital Markets Services systems department is responsible for development, enhancement and support of systems, application and technology used by key business areas of Fidelity Capital Markets Services (FCMS). Fidelity Capital Markets Systems provides technology solutions and support for key business and operational divisions in FCMS. The Asset Servicing Division provides portfolio accounting, custody management and reporting for institutional clients, both Fidelity-internal and external, using the Sungard Global Plus portfolio accounting application. As a member of the development team, you will have a leadership role in developing and implementing new functionality and enhancing existing systems capabilities in Fidelity Capital Markets Services. Our software engineer will design, modify, develop, write and implement software applications. The engineer will support and install these applications and participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Position will be located at a Fidelity technology facility in Boston, New Jersey or New York. Responsibilities [40%] Work as part of development team reporting to team leader and interfacing with the business area as well as other Fidelity systems and operational areas to implement and support the asset servicing business in FCMS. Develop, test and implement interfaces and enhancements to vendor portfolio accounting application and ad-hoc query/data warehouse application.. Implement, support and enhance client-management applications and systems. Develop, test and implement new functionality as required by Fidelity-wide systems development projects. [40%] Working with software vendor and Fidelity systems teams, configure, test and implement new releases of Global Plus portfolio accounting application [20%] Provide 1st and 2nd level application and operational support of asset servicing applications based on knowledge of system internals, cycle processing and job monitoring / scheduling utilities to meet service level agreements for system availability and effective problem resolution. The candidate will be responsible for key application development and support related to the asset servicing business with focus on Global Plus-related interfaces and applications The candidate will work as a member of project teams to deliver functionality and enhancements related to their area of expertise as well as assist other teams The candidate will own a portfolio of initiatives that they are primarily responsible for in terms of design, development, and testing The candidate will work closely with the other technology departments within Fidelity Investments including Telecommunications, Database, UNIX Technical Services, Windows Server Technical Services, Batch Services and Scheduling, and back office support The candidate will work closely with the asset servicing business area, clients, vendors and systems partners that are involved in day to day business The candidate will work within FCMS as a member of the FCMS development team and will be assigned to work with members of the analysis, QA and level 2-support group as project teams are formed to work on project initiatives. The candidate will participate as a member of the project team to see their work through to implementation and delivery to business area. Experience with Sungard Global Plus portfolio accounting / custody application including interfaces, event processing and VISION reporting language Design, develop, implement and support systems and applications SQL query and data analysis skills and familiarity with Oracle databases Enhancing and supporting vendor applications on Unix using shell scripts (e.g. K-shell) and Oracle PL/SQL Experience with job scheduling applications (e.g. CONTROL-M) Reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or Brio Knowledge of systems design methodologies On-call and off-hours support Fidelity systems environment including general knowledge of FSDM and understanding of FBSI mainframe environment would be a plus Communications and Interpersonal:· Good oral and written communication skills· Excellent team player· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines· Commitment to quality and high standards· Strong interpersonal / customer skills Veritude is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and supports a diversified environment.
