Job Description
The Information Technology Services (ITS) area in the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is the central information technology provider for the Eighth District. Collectively, the ITS team is striving to become the BEST customer service provider in the Federal Reserve System. This goal is built upon a mission to achieve Operational Excellence through Service Management. Each individual in the department is a contributor towards achieving this goal by providing high-quality services to both customers and fellow staff members in their daily job responsibilities. ITS currently has a permanent position available for an Information Security Specialist within the Information Security group. As an Information Security Specialist, you will work with IT staff to provide technical security expertise and recommendations to management to protect all District information assets. This position requires knowledge and application of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT Service Management concepts and principles.
Job Duties
• Acts as an internal consultant to the District’s departments regarding Information Security issues, the Federal Reserve System’s (FRS) new Information Security Manual (nISM), and access control mechanisms used by the Bank. • Represent the District on various FRS Information Security committees and work groups (concept/discussion, development, and implementation). • Lead studies relating to security topics and presents the results to management. • Implement threat management solutions, automation strategies, and information security projects. • Heavy involvement in the research, testing, and implementation of new security technology, software, and infrastructure to address security compliance. • Participate in the intrusion detection, change management, virus response, vulnerability assessment, and incident response activities of the team. • Facilitate the RMP (Risk Management Profile) process discussions with owners and SMEs (Subject Matter Experts). • Evaluate automation technologies relative to information security for use in the District.
Essential Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information System (CIS) or related field or equivalent work experience. • 4+ years of experience in Information Security or a related discipline, specializing in information security consultation, security compliance, and threat management, including: • Technical and operational proficiency with a wide array of computer hardware, operating systems and software. • Ability to conduct independent research and analyze complex requirements, including FRS and FISMA security standards, determining District impact and implementation.• Ability to implement complex technical plans (i.e. security strategies). • Ability to understand, develop and propose changes to internal procedures in response to environmental changes. • Ability to keep up-to-date with new technologies and new threats and determine their impact on the District. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. • Excellent project management skills. • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with all levels of management, peers, organizations within the Federal Reserve System, customers, and outside vendors. • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment. • Some experience mentoring and training employees. • Fluency or willingness to become fluent, in ITIL foundational concepts to position oneself as a contributor in fulfilling the department mission. • ITIL Practitioner level knowledge or willingness to quickly gain knowledge, applied to processes where role is applicable. • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certified, preferred. • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certified, preferred.• Project Management experience/certification, preferred.• Diverse Applicants are Encouraged to Apply
