Instructional Designer

Experienced Instructional Design candidates sought for 6+ month contract opportunity with a large financial/insurance provider located in San Antonio (work to be performed on site – no telecommuting).  Candidate need to have an adult corporate learning and strong Instructional System Design (ISD) background for the design piece only.  The focus being a combination of Instructional Design experience with e-learning and instructor lead training.  Recent e-learning experience is a key component, along with good writing skills and the ability to clearly/effectively communicate past experience with the design process.  Must have the ability to write content as well as perform the design piece, so the combination of Technical Writing and Instructional Design is preferred.  Any “Performance-Based Learning” or financial/banking/insurance industry experience would be a big plus.

Overall Description:  Perform analysis, design and development of training and develop course materials, including participant materials, job aids, and online support and content.  Apply e-learning techniques to repurpose instructor-led courses or develop Web, CBT, and blended learning courses.  Provide guidance and direction to others supporting instructional design.  Develop work plans and estimates for the development and upgrading of training.  Develop and enhance the Instructional System Design ISD methodology to reduce development time and augment a match with requirements.  Work with subject matter experts to identify and incorporate relevant content into courses and with stakeholders and SMEs to develop and implement certification programs.  Develop curricula that map courses against specific users and user development goals.

Duties:  Plan and complete analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation for multimedia and traditional training systems developed for training programs.  Derive and document learning objectives (Using High Level Course Design Template).  Determine and document learning delivery method (Using High Level Course design Template).  Design/develop courses (Using processes and templates) and develop Course materials.  Provide expertise in ISD by assisting and advising training development and support personnel.  Develop instructional materials in accordance with company and customer curriculum development standards and guidelines.  Provide evaluation of curriculum documents and instructional delivery procedures.  May serve as the “Lead” ISD for a multiple ISD development team, provides coaching and mentoring to other team personnel to ensure timely design and development of instructional materials.

Applying principles of behavioral sciences.  Systematically searching for related information.

Preferred Education:  Master's degree in instructional technology, psychology, education, behavioral science or closely related field from an accredited college or university or related experience.

Ideal Candidates would have some combination of the following:  Minimally 3-5 years experience with eLearning design and performance based learning.  Masters degree is preferred.  Some multimedia experience (Captivate, Flash, Lectora), not necessarily with coding but someone who knows the software capabilities.  Recent experience and progressive knowledge in the discipline with e-learning design experience and someone who has proven design expertise.  Must be able to clearly and effectively explain past experience in the Instructional Design process.
