Insurance Underwriter

Job Description  Credit underwriting for an insurance portfolio of life, property & casualty and specialty carriers. Prepare quarterly reviews and presentations to the COLI Committee for all COLI carriers. Prepare offerings to include the creditworthiness and financial condition of borrowers. Assess credit worthiness by determining and gathering the information necessary to analyze the financial strength of borrowers. Participates actively in due diligence meetings with borrowers. Use analysis and loan evaluation tools to evaluate profitability and opine on pricing, create loan request with justification, and prepare documentation. Provides analytical support for validation of risk rating for each obligor and facility. Responsible for the timely administration of loans within an assigned portfolio, including the preparation of annual reviews and the satisfactory resolution of credit deficiencies such as collateral exceptions and covenant violations. May prepare SAC reports. Assists more junior underwriters in use of systems, preparation of documents and analysis of complex financial statements and loan structures. Credit Administration duties for CPMS, credit file administration and financial statement/prospectus compilation. Assist traders, salesmen and relationship managers with their requests for credit facilities. Provides important back-up to the Credit Executive – Capital Markets and the Credit Manager for Insurance. Support credit managers or relationship managers as directed.  Requirements:  Bachelor in Business, Finance or Accounting. Successful completion of a PNC Credit Training Program or a comparable program at another financial institution or participation in lending or credit activities for a period of two to four years. 5 to 10 years of relevant insurance industry experience Advanced credit analytical skills. Developing knowledge of risk management, credit policy and credit administration procedures. Computer literacy. Familiarity with Bank's computer-based tools. Strong teamwork and written and verbal communication skills.
