Higher One is currently seeking a Java Software Engineer to enhance and maintain our J2EE banking applications. This position will report to the Vice President of Software Engineering. The ideal candidate will be an independent and focused developer who aspires to reach a high level of technical competence while obtaining solid hands-on experience in a challenging environment.

 

Java Software Engineer Responsibilities: Design and develop various new features for the web-based banking applications. Work closely with client operations team to troubleshoot Higher Link (Higher One's proprietary Java-based integration software). Execute change control requests from clients for custom development. Maintain Higher One's production J2EE banking applications.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent experience. At least 2-3 years software development experience with object oriented languages (preferably Java).Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (Oracle a plus). Good technical diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills. Ability to work under pressure. Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Has the ability to acquire new skills efficiently, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
