Junior Technical Writer

Seeking a Junior Technical Writer

With 3-4 years experience

Looking for someone with banking experience, who might have created/wrote banking software documents and/manuals

 

Outputs will include a range of documents to be read by both technical and non-technical personnel throughout the company and customers who have purchased, installed and are using the software. The software products will consist primarily of bank related solutions including teller software, new account software, BSA compliance software, remote deposit software and middleware software used to support cash recyclers and cash dispensers.

 

Summary of Job Responsibilities

Meet with departments and end users to define business procedures and establish documentation needs.

Collaborate with systems and development staff to collect and interpret technical information.

Meet with stakeholders to plan layout, graphical elements, and formatting of documents. Ensure final documents are usable and of high quality.

Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation tools and methods in support of documentation improvement efforts.

Develop documentation project plans and timelines.

Edit written documentation of development and other IT staff to create unified and consistent support documents.

Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards, and provide training where required.

Maintain currency and accuracy of all documentation.

 

University degree in the field of English, Communications, or Journalism. A background in technology is desirable.

Hands-on technical writing and editing experience, with specific experience in documenting information technology software and systems.

Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles.

Experience with desktop publishing tools, including […].

Strong understanding of document formatting and presentation techniques.
