POSITION PURPOSE: To provide effective management, administration and control of several functions within Loan Service Operations. To ensure timely and effective enforcement of loan-contract terms, good customer relations and overall operational efficiency in the servicing of mortgage loan accounts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following section contains representative examples of work that will be performed in positions allocated to this classification. It is not required that any position perform all duties listed, so long as primary responsibilities are consistent with the work as described. Manages various Loan Service activities focused on the enforcement of loan contract terms, maximizing revenues and minimizing losses to Washington Mutual. Sets standards for volume and processing time frames. Ensures adherence to standards. Monitors and evaluates Regional performance against goals. Provides guidance of Loan Service Section/Unit Managers. Evaluates and resolves high priority or complex problems through communication and negotiation with customers, insurers/guarantors, investors, vendors, attorneys and regulatory agents. Evaluates the assignment of staff, schedules projects and monitors work in progress. Provides direction as needed. Ensures timely completion in accordance with objectives. Plans and oversees the development of training, policy and procedures for staff to maintain currency in the loan servicing and data processing systems areas. Ensures compliance with Washington Mutual investor/insurer or regulatory requirements. Monitors operations to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to. Continually evaluates regional operational efficiency to ensure that loan servicing operations meet established internal and external standards at a reasonable cost to the company. Keeps abreast of developments in the industry and evaluates and recommends new procedures or changes in existing procedures to maintain/increases operational efficiency. Ensures that documentation and records are properly processed, maintained and secured. Develops and submits recommendations for department cost reductions. Approves various expenditures that are above subordinates authority limits. Reviews and analyzes management controls and reporting to ensure accuracy information reported. Takes necessary action to alleviate deficiencies. Identifies areas of financial exposure and ensures that proper controls are in place. Performs related work as required. Extensive knowledge of mortgage, banking/mortgage, servicing industry. Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to mortgage servicing. Analytical skills. Excellent written and oral communication. Knowledge of MS Office and related software. Working knowledge of CPI/ALLTEL systems. Exercise good judgment. Ability to analyze work processes, break them down and search for efficiencies. Effectively lead management and motivate staffing levels of various sizes and skill levels. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO: Effectively communicate, both written and oral, are essential. A comprehensive knowledge of real estate loan servicing, origination and marketing is recommended. May require experience in commercial real estate transactions. Incumbent must be able to identify and correct operational and/or procedural deficiencies which may impact Bank regulatory compliance, profitability or customer quality. Must keep abreast of changing regulatory and legal environments. A working knowledge of accounting and data processing is also required. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Business Administration highly recommended. Minimum of eight years in Loan Servicing experience required. College coursework recommended. Minimum of three years experience as a Section Manager. Functions are performed under general supervision. Assignments require knowledge and application of a wide range of management and technical concepts. A thorough knowledge of loan servicing, origination and marketing is required.
