Serves as a liaison with internal and external attorneys to ensure the best cost efficient, effective and minimally customer intrusive methods and strategies are employed when preparing legal documents. 2. Acts as liaison between Legal and other major areas of WM (Home Loans, RBFS, Card Services & Consumer) to provide information on lawsuits and to solve problems of a customer sensitive nature appropriately. 3. Manages a moderate to high volume caseload of the most complex type subpoenas being the most sensitive to short time frames. 4. Assists management as required by analyzing operations, procedures, workflow, business practices, legal or regulatory requirements, etc. as appropriate, and makes recommendations for implementation and for solutions. 5. Assists, as necessary, with special projects as required. If appropriate, oversees the management of the project, ensuring that the project is completed timely, meets required objectives, and is within the required parameters. 6. Performs activities as necessary regarding the coordination of litigation activity in conjunction with the department manager. Acts as liaison between Legal and internal or external counsel when appropriate. 7. Represents WM at various functions and/or legal proceedings. 8. Performs manager duties in the absence of the department manager. 9. Indirectly supervises other employees in the department under the direction of the department manager. May directly supervise others in the case of overseeing special projects. Knowledge requirements: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical, organizational and presentation skills. • Retail, Consumer Lending, Lending products, services, policies and procedures relating to Washington Mutual. • Familiarity with legal terminology. • Functional knowledge of computer software (i.e. spreadsheets, database, desktop publishing system, etc.) • Legal terminology and awareness of court documents and filings. • Recognize and identify next steps in lawsuits Washington Mutual is an equal opportunity employer.
