Legal, Risk, and Capital:

The Legal, Risk & Capital (LRC) division manages all aspects of these risks from the analysis of counterparty credit risk and the stress-testing of market movements to the protection of the Bank's infrastructure and information. The Legal team aims to facilitate the transactions of Deutsche Bank by giving proactive, business-oriented and creative advice. It manages legal risk in order to make transactions viable and safe, to protect Deutsche Bank’s integrity and reputation. Legal’s main tasks include drafting agreements and other deal documentation, negotiating contract terms, advising on business transactions and strategy, and handling litigation and regulatory investigations.

Legal Operations Discovery Specialist



RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is part of a newly created operating model within the DB Legal Operations Group. This position will support the DB Legal Department in responding to discovery requests in litigation and regulatory matters and address new legal requirements concerning electronic discovery (eDiscovery). The position will involve the following tasks:



Assist with implementation of processes and procedures to reflect the new operating model



Promote defined standards for general discovery support, vendor management, and data mapping exercise



Create and maintain DB Legal Operations eDiscovery processes and procedures



Capture quality and management metrics and produce MIS reports for senior management





Support DB in-house and external counsel in responding to discovery and regulatory requests and assist with execution of the general discovery support tasks



Review legal and regulatory process and requests to identify scope of discovery



Identify relevant data sources (hard copy and electronic) and data custodians



Participate in initial fact-finding interviews together with DB in-house and external counsel



Assist in issuance of legal holds notifications and manage data preservation requirements throughout matter life cycle



Assist in data collection



Facilitate processing of documents collected for review and analysis by DB in-house and external counsel



Oversee production of documents, working with onshore and/or offshore vendors





Support the development, implementation and maintenance of governance framework for discovery and litigation readiness:



Maintain master data mapping list of DB data sources and custodians



Liaise with other departments to ensure that changes to data sources and custodians are properly communicated to DB Legal





Oversee management of eDiscovery and legal support service vendors



Evaluate and become experts on services provided by vendors



Assist with the selection of vendors for litigation and regulatory matters



Serve as the liaison for DB with vendors and external counsel



Provide onboarding support or remote data access to vendors as needed



Assist in RFI projects with DB Global Sourcing to select a DB panel of vendors and achieve competitive commercial terms





Coordinate with DB Legal IT for all technology installations and ongoing maintenance of such applications



Support the design and implementation of new workflow and data collection technology



Research available technology for eDiscovery solutions and keep apprised of current development in the industry



Participate in various industry forums regarding new eDiscovery products, technology and tools





Assist with the maintenance and archival of case files and entry of information into DB’s case matter management system





 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Knowledge of the legal industry and eDiscovery requirements, including 2-4 years of practical experience



Prior IT experience preferred



Exposure to project management methodologies and techniques



Strong oral and written communication skills



Good interpersonal communication skills



Highly motivated candidate with the ability to be flexible, take initiative, and be proactive



Excellent organizational skills – able to manage time and handle different tasks in parallel to completing projects effectively



Accuracy and diligence – ability to deliver high quality results in every detail within tight deadlines



Technology savvy – interest in exploring existing technology solutions and the possibility to tailor applications for specific needs in a cost efficient manner
