Mortgage Operations Manager, Secondary Marketing

Our client is a publicly traded super-regional bank headquartered in Western New York.  Their mortgage department is growing as they continue to focus on well-managed, lower-risk lending practices consistent with today’s mortgage origination environment.  As a result, our client currently seeks an experienced secondary marketing operations manager who can assist with key operations and leadership requirements of their capital markets division. Responsibilities:  Oversee and make recommendations on improving, where necessary, the operational/documentation flow processes performed after loans close and before delivery into the secondary market; this will include audits on shipping and post closing; Provide leadership to the secondary operations team; this includes recruiting, training, motivating, evaluating, and managing the existing team; Lead the planning efforts towards departmental improvements, recommending the incorporation of new technology when appropriate; Oversee that all operational procedures are performed within state, local and federal regulatory mortgage banking guidelines. Candidates must possess the following:  A Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of operations management experience in a secondary marketing or closely related mortgage banking department; A proven track record of successful operations management with a team that consists of different areas of expertise, including underwriting, processing, shipping, and post-closing; An exceptional understanding of FNMA/FHLMC and Alt-A mortgage products; Excellent understanding of how technology influences the ability to maximize efficiency; Knowledge of QRM and Fiserv highly desirable; Outstanding leadership, motivation, and communications skills; A high energy, entrepreneurial type of personality with a passion to succeed.
