Network Implementation Engineer

Job Purpose:
Applicant will join a team of professionals that are responsible for the voice/data network and Internet infrastructure of the BMO Group of Companies.

This includes responsibility for LAN, WAN and Internet connectivity primarily for sites within the U.S as well as implementation of legacy equipment and systems.  The majority of implementation responsibilities  will consist of  Cisco data network equipment and various security components in the U.S.  Experience with firewalls is helpful.  Nortel experience is a plus as this group works closely with our Canadian counterparts.

This person's duties will include implementation  of network solutions within specified timeframes. This person will also be a knowledgeable resource for the other support areas and groups within the BMO Group of Companies who need to deploy solutions and resolve problems within the enterprise.

This person will also be on call 7 x 24 to support network implementation issues that may arise and interact with multiple help desks, and their management, within and outside the organization.

Work hours will vary.  The majority of changes in this environment are performed on-site during specified time windows at night and over the weekend. This person will be asked to staff a remote operations site in the Northwest suburbs on a rotational basis.

 

Minimum of a CCNA certification is required.
- 3 to 5  years of hand-on experience installing and maintaining Cisco network
Equipment.
- 5 to 7 years managing telecommunications projects
- Must have strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS and web-based technologies;
solid understanding of network architectures and topologies; and outstanding
troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in the use of the Network General Infinistream product line is required.
- 1 to 3 years experience in network implementation is required.
-Prior experience and understanding of ITIL standards as they related to incident/problem/change management is required.
- Experience with firewall solutions such as Checkpoint, Cisco PIX or Netscreen is required.
- Experience with BGP, HSRP, EIGRP and VPN is required.
- On call 7 x 24, weekly time/progress reports and timely escalations to Management.
- Ability to work varying schedules to perform changes/testing with minimal impact to customers.
- Superior verbal and written communications skills.
