Operational Risk Control was established in 2005 to develop and implement an Operational Risk Framework (ORF) in UBS globally. Within UBS-IB, ORC is a global organization with representation in the Americas, EMEA and APAC. Its structure consists of global Product/Function heads and Regional heads, and department members may have matrix reporting lines. Product controllers have responsibility for front-to-back understanding and coverage of specific products in the FICC, Equity and IBD areas, while Functional controllers have cross-product responsibility in areas such as Credit, Market Risk, Finance and Operations. IB-ORC also includes a central support team based in London which provides global support to the team (e.g., MIS reporting). Reporting lines ultimately roll up to the Global Head of ORC for UBS-IB. This position will report to the Senior Controller responsible for the Risk functions.The Operational Risk Controller is responsible for performing the risk control process for a particular portfolio.The Operational Risk Controller's primary duty is to implement the Operational Risk Framework for his/her assigned portfolio. The Controller's primary objective is to ensure all Operational Risks are: identified in the front-to-back flow for assigned products or across products for assigned functions; properly assessed and recorded in the Operational Risk Inventory, and have adequate remediation plans to reduce the risks to an acceptable level. Product and Functional controllers are expected to communicate and coordinate with each other to provide a holistic view of risk and maximize coverage across the IB. The Controller's responsibilities include:- Staying abreast with industry news and regulatory developments pertinent to his/her specific portfolio to facilitate a more proactive approach in risk identification and mitigation - Business understanding and strategy formation for portfolio coverage - Relationship building with the business and functional areas, and partnering to continually improve our operational risk control processes, support business growth, and make informed cost/benefit decisions - Proactively drive the identification, assessment, measurement, mitigation and monitoring of Operational Risk in the assigned portfolio - Assure the completeness of the Operational Risk Inventory and oversee the remediation process - Lead root cause analyses on internal operational risk events and benchmarking analysis on events that occurred in the industry - Help promote and instil a culture of Operational Risk control and excellence across the assigned portfolio - Review and approve new business initiatives and offshoring / outsourcing activities based on application of the ORF on the front-to-back processes and controls - Review and contribute to the development of relevant policies, control standards and technical standards - Coordinate with other risk control functions and leverage internal audit and external reviews to develop a complete and integrated view of risk We can offer you an exciting, fast-paced working environment, a culture of mutual respect and teamwork and the opportunity to play a vital role in our growth.
