Performance Engineer - DBA
S1 is a leader in providing software and web applications to the financial industry. Our technology is used by banks and their customers worldwide and we are looking for the right people to help us innovate and build the next generation of banking applications.
We are currently searching for a Performance Engineer/Developmental & Administrative DBA that will participate in the performance testing of our Websphere applications as well as provide database support from design through implementation.
To be successful in this role, you should be self-motivated and passionate about solving technical problems. We are seeking a technical contributor, who is very hands-on and can gain respect and mentor junior members of the team. We are looking for a person who brings in-depth knowledge of Performance Tuning, Websphere, J2EE, DB2, and SQL as well as resourcefulness and the ability to embrace and utilize new, leading edge technologies. More specifically, you will be asked to perform the following:
·Aid in troubleshooting performance bottlenecks and offer solutions (Java and SQL required).
·Assist in developing performance test plans.
·Utilize third party tools to gather performance measurements (ie., LoadRunner, PerformaSure, JProbe).
·Provide recommendations on tuning parameters for Websphere.
·Attend meetings and provide testing status to appropriate management.
·Perform as a performance advocate and educator to project teams.
·Monitor database performance, review logs, research data problems, make data corrections, tune the database and ensure the overall reliability and integrity of the database.
·Utilize DBMS monitoring tools for performing root cause analysis and identify resource bottlenecks.
·Work with our development staff for database design, implementation and tuning.
·Work effectively under pressure in critical situations.
* 3-5 years of Java/J2EE experience on any application server
* 2-3 years of performance engineering experience
* 2-3 years of DBA experience
* Bachelor's degree (CS preferred)
