Private Equity Associate

Position Description

Ampersand Ventures is a $800M private equity firm in Wellesley, MA (near Boston) that makes mid-sized growth capital investments in privately held healthcare and industrial product companies.  Ampersand is seeking to add one pre-MBA Associate to its investment staff.The Associate will bear a significant amount of responsibility in proactively identifying, contacting, and evaluating possible investment opportunities, and working with existing portfolio companies considering add-on acquisitions.  This is a 2-3 year position with the possibility for continued employment following business school.  Ampersand will soon be raising its seventh private equity fund so this is a particularly exciting time to join the firm. 

ResponsibilitiesConduct research on various market segments – main areas of focus will be contract manufacturing, instrumentation and specialty materials Source new investment opportunities Interact and build relationships with entrepreneurs/CEOs through calling and attending tradeshows Assist with business and financial due diligence, as well as transaction structuring Monitor trends in existing portfolio companies

Qualifications2006-2007 college graduate with experience in investment banking, corporate development or relevant consulting Top-tier academic background (technical degree not required) Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Proven research and analytical ability General understanding of technology and the capital markets Self directed individual with strong work ethic
