Research Data Strategist

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Data Research Team Manager, this individual will be part of a team responsible for delivering timely and accurate data into the research process, data standards and procedures, acquisition of new data sources, and data tools. The successful candidate will bring experience with complex, metadata rich environments in the financial industry. He/she will have a strong understanding of macro-economic, entity, and financial product data as well as have passion for accuracy, strong follow-thru discipline, and attention to details. The ultimate success of this individual will be determined by assessing the performance of our research projects and quality of the resulting investment ideas.

Responsibilities would include:

• Developing and maintaining data management framework including data classification, quality standards, metrics and procedures, Meta data, and taxonomies

• Organizing quick discovery, analysis, and acquisition of new data sources

• Contributing to research projects by offering innovative data sourcing and data validation ideas, providing expert guidance in data quality process and metrics

• Tracking data utilization metrics and manage contracts

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, demonstrating strong academic record

• Practical knowledge of major market and fundamental data providers

• Proven ability to design, organizes, and manages taxonomies and metadata; three plus years of relevant business experience

• Fluent understanding of multiple asset classes (FX, Fixed Income, and Equities)

• Strong understanding of XML

• Fluent in MS Excel, SQL (preferably MS SQL)

• Ability to own and manage development projects with little supervision

• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts

• Character and fortitude required for setting and maintaining quality standard within organization

• Strong common sense and ability to reduce the problem complexity down to visible and manageable parts

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, intense environment

• Team player who shares our common pursuit of excellence

Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:

• Experience with macro-economic indicators

• Fluent in Matlab or other advanced computational tools

• Familiarity with XBRL
