SBA Liaison Officer

Nature & Scope
To coordinate the SBA [7a and 504] loan processing requirements with internal staffing as well as appropriate SBA offices to ensure compliance with all SBA guidelines, in accordance with the SBA-SOP 50-10(5) manual. Compliance to SBA guidelines is mandatory in order to ensure the continuation of the Bank's status as a PLP Lender. The process and compliance to guidelines are reviewed by SBA auditors every 1-2 years; the results of these audits will determine whether or not the Bank will be awarded a renewal of its PLP Lender status.


Responsibilities Include
1. Responsible for ensuring compliance to SBA policies and regulations - coordinates the loan application and SBA approval process, working with the appropriate SBA offices; works directly with account officer and Borrower on the front end of the loan process to make certain that all forms and other technical application requirements are SBA compliant, prior to the formal submission of the loan application to SBA;. Prepares and/or revises, as needed, required loan submission forms and documents for formal SBA loan approval [all must conform to SBA policies and regulations]. Maintains direct working relationship/liaison with SBA personnel [regional & central offices, and DC]
A. Prepares SBA Loan Authorization, consistent with Bank's loan approval, and in compliance with SBA guidelines - requires CLAMP review to insure compliance to SBA and Bank guidelines. Prepares and processes all amendments to original approval, insuring compliance to both Bank and SBA policy guidelines; coordinates with Loan Closer during the closing process to insure SBA compliancy- responsible for providing closer with the initial Borrower loan package

2. Serves as information resource to Lending and Analytical staff with respect to SBA guidelines: including, but not limited to approval & processing requirements, underwriting requirements, documentation & technical requirements, and closing requirements. Must have working knowledge of the SBA SOP Operating Manual, and is responsible for updating staff with regards to SBA policy changes or amendments, as they occur. Must maintain existing and establish new working relationships with SBA offices, nationwide.

3. Maintains required documentation and other related loan-processing information for each SBA loan application and each closed SBA loan, in accordance with SBA audit guidelines; prepares bank tracking reports relating to SBA loans, including but not limited to loans in process, approved, and in-closing. Special projects, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

At least 5-7+ years direct job-related experience -specifically related to the SBA loan process
