We also manage to keep a sense of humor along the way.  So if you’re ready for WaMu, read on! Join the team of high performance analysts that build, update, document, maintain and run residential mortgage models critical to the financial reporting of credit risk.  The ideal candidate is proactive, detail oriented and comfortable pulling, manipulating, and analyzing mortgage data both for production and ad hoc requests.  This position requires the candidate to fulfill some or all of the following duties:Carefully explain technical issues orally and in writing to non-technical consumers/reviewers. Run sophisticated credit financial models in SAS and SQL, and find ways to crosscheck and validate the results. Researches, compiles and analyzes complex credit and financial engineering-related data.  Summarizes findings orally and in writing; determines statistically significant patterns in data; trends in measurement; and isolates measurements that have no statistical validity. Prepares, documents and communicates findings, analyses, and recommendations for senior management. Identifies appropriate data sources and coordinates with various internal departments and outside sources to gather data and reviews for accuracy. The successful candidate will possess a specialized knowledge in the following areas:- SAS programming- Credit Principles & Practices- Banking & Financial Services Products and Processes- Development of programs, processes or tools- Conduct of highly complex analyses- Presentation of complex/technical information to their manager Requires computer application experience with SAS. Experience with database querying languages such as SQL, MS Office suite (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) recommended.  Prior job experience with credit risk models at a top-tier financial services institution or 5+ years of job experience is preferred.  An advanced degree from a top-tier program is preferred.  Quantitative emphasis including coursework of the type required for obtaining degrees in finance, business, economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, and/or physical sciences.  Washington Mutual is an equal opportunity employer.
