Senior Business Analyst – Trading/Equity/Derivative

Position available in NYC or Jersey City

 Analyze business and operations needs and develop business requirement specifications that will be used to develop technology solutions.  Document and analyze process flows with the goal to reach higher levels of straight through processing. Manage projects, working with technology, operations and business teams to achieve project goals. Document and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLA) with the clearing entity and measure performance against the agreement. Assist head of operations on special projects and reporting as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·  Contribute to the maximum efficiency of the operations department

Ø  By analyzing the current procedures.

Ø  By making proposal of changes to improve productivity, efficiency and risk control.

Ø  By assisting in organizing UAT on system developments;

Ø  By measuring the impact of developments on the staff's workload.

 

·  Contribute to the successful implementation of new systems

Ø  By analyzing the Trading Operations department’s user requirements.

Ø  By ensuring that the system functionalities meet the user requirements.

Ø  By proposing procedure changes to take advantage of the system functionalities.

Ø  By helping the operations manager measure the impact of new systems on the staff's workload and determine the new staffing requirements.

 

·  Contribute to the integration and control of new businesses:

Ø  By analyzing and documenting the new activity and producing trade flow diagrams.

Ø  By analyzing the impact on the various functional departments (middle office, back office, finance, credit, collateral etc) and proposing an optimal work flow.

Ø  By liaising with the IT department to coordinate the user requirement documentation production and sign off.

Ø  By coordinating and producing all communications from operations with regard to the new product implementation.

 

·  Responsible for maintaining project lists, organizing follow up meetings, chasing deliverables and creation and distribution of meeting minutes.

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

·  Candidates should have five or more years of experience in a trading operations environment, with specific experience and knowledge of US equity and listed derivative trade processing flows and clearance processes.

·  Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in a financial, accounting or economics related field.  MBA a plus.

·  Working knowledge of project management concepts. Some documentation experience necessary (business requirements, process flows, procedures, GAP analysis).  Knowledge of Six Sigma or other similar type programs a plus.

·  A minimum excellent level of knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  (MS Access and Project a plus.)

·  Must be a pro-active self starter with excellent organization skills who is able to communicate well with others.

·  Additional characteristics include accuracy, attention to detail, the ability to use logic to analyze problems and initiative.
