Job DescriptionThe Derivatives Division has a job opportunity available for a Derivatives Analyst. This opportunity offers the incumbent to learn about Derivative products that provide investors the ability to leverage their positions, enhance returns, and hedge their portfolios.  Derivatives are contracts whose value is based on the performance of an underlying financial asset, index, or other investment.  The Derivatives team supports Options and Futures processing, OTC processing, and collateral movements associated with derivative trading.  Additionally, the Derivatives team is a central point of contact for clients, investment managers, and clearing brokers in servicing/processing derivative instruments. The incumbent will participate with teammates in prioritizing and coordinating workflow as well as actively participate in the unit’s efforts to identify and implement new processes.   Sr Derivative Analyst role will act as the research facilitator for complex products and highly visible clients. Role will involve (a) day to day processing (b) involvement in working parties to improve processes and system involvement from user perspective (c) managing client queries and issues (d) acting as a subject matter expert to more junior team members and other teams within the department and Company for either ETD or OTC products.  Knowledge/Skills: Extensive knowledge of derivatives and/or related industry experience.  Requires extensive expertise in relevant business products.  Core competencies in analytical problem solving, communication skills, Operations processing and product knowledge.  Analytical and problem solving skills are required to validate information and resolve issues.  Attention to detail and organizational skills are required to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.  Applicants must be able to work equally well in a team environment and independently, exhibiting initiative, leadership, and flexibility.  The ideal candidate will have a formal education with a concentration in business, accounting, and/or finance, or equivalent experience of 2 to 3 years in understanding the complexities of the derivatives markets via prior work experience, and be well acquainted with MS Suite of Systems (Excel/Access/Word) at an intermediate/advanced level.   Major Duties: § Ensure daily receipt of all investment manager/client derivative instructions and broker statements.§ Manage a varied assignment of work including but not limited to ensuring derivative instruments are properly coded, set up, accurately accounted for and correctly recorded.§ Review and ensure premium charges are paid/received, pledged collateral is delivered/received whether via a commitment letter, DTC, or the OCC ERD facility.  § Reconcile all variation margin to investment manager’s instructions and broker’s positions and cash.§ Research and resolve margin, position and valuation discrepancies noted in broker and IM reconciliations.§ Resolve discrepancies and exceptions regarding trade & cash breaks from internal/external partners.§ Perform daily matching of cash receivables to control accounts.§ Validate collateral positions (cash/securities) to broker positions.§ Work with investment managers, brokers, and internal partners to resolve inquiries & complex problems.§ Provide assistance to the team leader or manager as needed and perform related duties as assigned. Experience2-3 years of derivatives back-office experience required with knowledge of futures, options, swaps and/or short selling strategies.
