Senior IT Project Manager

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Systems, the Sr. Project Manager is responsible for managing projects in support of the Finance, Legal, Compliance and Human Resources application systems. Purchased products such as Great Plains, and ADP are augmented by in-house developed ASP.NET applications that extend the reach of Corporate Systems applications to the entire enterprise. A deep understanding of accounting systems, HR systems, and best practice IT Management are essential, as is the ability to interact with senior management. Experience with a wide range of technologies will be essential as is a history of several implementation projects.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for assessing departmental needs across the company, managing resources for the management of projects, and managing how the team delivers and maintains projects. Senior Project Managers directly manage larger and more complex corporate or departmental projects, implementations, initiatives, and programs. Senior Project Managers plan and execute projects according to deadlines and manages project budgets. This includes managing the efforts of team members and sourcing of third party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Senior Project Manager will define project's objectives and oversee the quality control throughout its lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Manages all phases of large and complex projects to ensure their projects are completed efficiently and meet the business user's requirements
- Interfaces with senior management regarding status, issues and risks regarding projects
- Defines project vision, scope, goals and deliverables that support business needs in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Based on evaluation, makes recommendations to management regarding solutions to resolve business problems
- Identifies requirements to deliver projects including implementation of solution, staffing of the projects, timelines, etc.
- Creates, organizes and maintains all timelines and budgets related to projects utilizing tools such as MS Project and Project Server
- Works with Business Analysts to evaluate current business processes and requirements
- Determines, creates and manages proper documentation for each project
- Organizes all departments related to the project including Business Analysis, Infrastructure, Development, QA, Release management, Information Security, Third Party Vendors and Business Users
- Analyzes and assesses project requirements to deliver solution including implementation of business requirements, staffing of the projects, timelines, etc.
- Identifies and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, evaluates severity and likelihood of issues, and devise contingency and mitigation plans.
- Assists in developing and improving project management and program management processes
- Mentors Project Managers and Project Coordinators with the development of their project management skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at 7 years of project management experience required; or equivalent combination of education/experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with financial accounting systems, human resources applications and general business systems projects.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, internal clients, and other departments.
- Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
- Highly-developed analytical ability
- Able to interface with different departments within the company
- Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project or Project Server preferred
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools like Cognos is a plus.
