Job Description: 

RBC Centura is looking for an experienced Application Developer to fill a full-time position on the Corporate Delivery Systems team. This position is a combination of new development as well as maintenance work. Experience in developing Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and Card Management banking software on an IBM Mainframe is preferred but not required. In this position, you will be responsible for producing and delivering fully tested computer programs from business requirements on time, and according to specifications. This includes creating appropriate program documentation, and addressing operational and program discrepancies on schedule, within prescribed limits, and in accordance with client requirements. You will be required to apply technical knowledge and skills to complete and document complex projects. Candidate must be able to communicate very effectively, and pass acquired technical knowledge and information on to others within the organization.

Position can be based out of either our Raleigh or Rocky Mount office.


Requirements: 

-B.S. in Computer Science, CIS or equivalent
-10+ years programming experience in an IBM Mainframe environment.
-Experience with application development in the banking industry preferred.
-Candidate must possess a high degree of knowledge in COBOL, CICS, MVS JCL, TSO / ISPF.
-Experience coding in Assembler, Easytrieve and SyncSort is desired but not required.
-Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
-Excellent communications skills.
-Ability to work in a team oriented environment.




Key Accountabilities: 

-Performs programming efforts on system enhancements and production support tasks.
-Aids in the estimation of work effort to provide technical solutions to business requirements.
-Provides consulting services on new and strategic initiatives with varying degrees of complexity.
-Researches emerging trends/best practices and determines implications of proposed solutions on meeting business unit strategy.
-Participates in project detailed design phases, identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues and ensuring solution meets sponsor needs and project deliverables.
-Approves and/or designs technical solutions for application components or enhancements.
-Working with the project team, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, and third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.
-Contributes to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing / recommending mitigation strategies.
-Participates in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors
-Ensures adequate technical documentation has been completed.
-Provides assistance in disaster recovery planning.
-Analyzes and resolves production problems.
-Provides direction, expertise, feedback, and coaching to build the capability of more junior staff.
-Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.
-Participate in on-call support for responsible applications.
