Senior Systems Engineer

 

The Responsibilities for this position include:

· Installs, configures, upgrades and maintains server or mainframe-based communications services, database management software such as Windows, Linux OS, SQL, compilers, storage management solutions, network monitoring and management solutions, security systems.

· Solid understanding of TCP/IP networks, DNS, Mail Servers (Exchange) and Active Directory Services.

· Identifies and resolves system anomalies and operational problems and organizes data storage. Develops and maintains system documentation.

· Develops system utility programs and procedures to enhance operations and support for applications.

· Implements and maintains back-up and restore solutions; Â performs back-up and restore operations.

· Customizes operating system code and generates optimization for the operating system.

· Creates and maintains the more complex job control language and/or custom scripts.

· Works with application development and support staff to analyze hardware and operating system requirements and participates in the development of
specifications.

· Installs, services, and moves servers, networking devices, storage devices, and related equipment. Conducts performance analysis, tuning, and capacity planning.

· Uses network monitoring and management software such as Tivoli to monitor system availability and performance and initiate corrective action.

· Leads and coordinates project team to implement systems software components and hardware upgrades and deployments.



 

The qualification for this position include

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required, an advanced degree preferred.

· 6 or more years of experience across multiple platforms as a systems administrator, capacity planner, network engineer or infrastructure architect.

· Windows Systems Administration experience supporting MS Windows maintaining Windows 2000, 2003 Server and IIS to implement and maintain a disaster recovery strategy for the Windows Operating systems platform on physical and virtual environments using VMware Infrastructure software. Good knowledge of Windows Registries.

· Demonstrated experience in implementing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining backup software for Windows servers using products such as CommVault Galaxy on physical and virtual environments connecting to direct or Storage Attached networks (SAN) for disk-to-disk storage backups.  Experience using new products such as VMware VCB, VMware HA.  VMware DRS is a plus.

· Preferred certifications:  MCSE, MCSD, and/or MCT certification.

· Understanding of data sources (i.e. SMF, RMF, TMON), Linux, Solaris, Windows OS, IBM Tivoli Suite – a plus.

· Preferred experience with MS Project, ITIL, AutoSys
