Senior Windows Systems Administrator
10+ years experience in the Windows systems/applications support arena in a mixed UNIX and Windows environment (Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, Citrix and VMWare ESX servers). Manage Active Directory, Services for Unix, CPU, disk and memory utilization management, and DNS servers. Application support for enterprise services (IIS, Weblogic, Apache, Cygwin). Fault management configuration and maintenance. Service and process documentation. Rotating 24x7 On-call support; skill in the data center: racking machines, cabling, etc. Perform operational readiness analysis of new products and services. Work with internal/external partners and vendors on new applications and existing services. Strong understanding of Internet services and principles.
Responsible for implementation, administration, monitoring, and management of all Windows Servers, VMWare ESX server, Citrix servers within a development, Integration, QA, and production environment.
More specifically, the person will perform the following:
• Complex assignments associated with managing and controlling Windows 2000/2003 operating systems.
• Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on Windows operating systems and hardware to detect problems.
• Evaluates, reviews, documents, and installs software packages.
• Recommends methods and techniques to be used for obtaining solutions.
• Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems.
• Administers and/or oversees systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules which are critical to the success of programs.
• Updates systems with latest patches
• Assists internal teams support and end-user support
Required Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of Windows Domain, Active Directory, and Windows DNS
• Thorough knowledge of Windows Networking including DNS, DHCP, Routers, and Switches
• Experience with various Windows-based hardware platforms (Dell, IBM, HP)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
• Must be a team player (team oriented) and willing to follow directions, as well as take initiative.
Desired Skills:
• MCSE or MCP
• Windows Scripting
• Microsoft IIS administration
