Small Business Portfolio Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for small business portfolio administration and servicing of small business loans up to $1 million, both secured and unsecured to ensure all small business loan portfolios are properly managed according to Sandy Spring Bank credit and risk policies. Duties include coordination of the renewal process, document preparation, research and review of client requests. Provides support to Small Business Underwriters, Commercial Relationship Managers, Commercial Portfolio Managers and Retail Community Office Managers as it relates to small business loans.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Portfolio Administration
Ensures proper follow through on all applications from initial request to documentation. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure that all loans are reviewed for covenant tracking, financial statement tracking, and renewal processing in a timely manner. Contacts client for required application, covenant tracking and renewal information within established guidelines. Utilizes needs based selling techniques to always keep the client’s best interests in mind. Maintains the quality of credit files. Completes periodic loan reviews and recommends potential watch list loans. Assists with the underwriting process as needed. Assists the Asset Quality group with problem loans in developing an action plan for loan workouts including restructuring.
2. Maintenance and Servicing
Maintains distinctive level of client services that meets or exceeds client expectations. Responds to client questions and requests promptly. Works in cooperation with Loan Support, Loan Servicing, Commercial Relationship Managers, Commercial Portfolio Managers and Retail Groups to resolve questions, complaints and/or errors. To the satisfaction of the client and benefit to the bank resolves problems on accounts.
3. Portfolio Management Reporting
Develops and distributes portfolio-monitoring reports to Commercial Relationship Managers, Commercial Portfolio Managers, Small Business Loan Center Manager and Retail Groups. Maintains daily tracking reports to ensure proper follow through on all renewals and applications from initial request through loan closing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Work requires a broad level of professional experience in commercial banking or retail banking. Level I, II, III will be commensurate with related work experience, demonstrated performance ability, and size and complexity of the portfolio. Position requires 3 to 5 years work experience in commercial lending or retail lending.
2. Ability to utilize standard PC based software to prepare correspondence, reports and other documents as needed.
3. Strong communication skills are needed to effectively work with internal/external clients to explain products and interpret policy.
4. Advanced problem solving skills are needed to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources is required.
5. Work is under minimal supervision, where the work requires independent judgment in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures and the selection of alternative work routines.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
