Sponsorship Associate 1
Responsible for identification, evaluation, activation and management of marketing sponsorship properties consistent with the business objectives of the company an its respective units (geographies, LOBs, staff groups). Receives, evaluates and responds to proposals on behalf of SunTrust. Applies judgment in evaluation process to consider all potential areas of interest and applicability across company units, identifies opportunities and/or conflicts, engages stakeholders in company units to appropriately gauge interest in further consideration and in-depth evaluation. Leverages significant industry knowledge and expertise to prioritize and assess the value of proposed sponsorship elements. Engages partners and subject matter experts in the valuation of specialized elements of proposals, such as potential new business, cross-LOB benefits, media signage and hospitality benefits. Considers brand compatibility, client impact, business development opportunity, market competition, activation potential and required investment. In conjunction with Sponsorship Manager, legal department and corporate procurement, negotiates sponsorship partner agreements within the confines of approved guidelines and budget to maximize the benefit and value to SunTrust. Works closely with internal partners, agencies and management of sponsored property to fully activate and utilize sponsorship benefits to fulfill marketing objectives, maximizing the value derived from each investment. Coordinates all interface with the sponsored property and its designated representatives. Manages all requests for sponsorship asset utilization, including tickets, credentials, events, access, etc. Personally plans, manages and executes all details, logistics and communications support for tactical marketing initiatives. Works collaboratively with internal and external teams to drive successful outcomes. Ensures professionalism, accuracy and cost efficiency in the execution of programs. As appropriate, personally inspects and evaluates facilities and/or venues for suitability relative to sponsorship objectives. Initiates and oversees production of required marketing materials and resources for sponsorship activation, and promotions connected to the sponsorship. Engages LOB/geography partners, along with management of sponsored property in the measurement and evaluation of each sponsorship event, documenting results and observations for improvement in future events. Manages all budgets, forecasts and commitments including post-event billing of charges. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business or Marketing. 5 plus years of experience in event and/or sponsorship marketing for a major corporation or marketing agency. Skilled in proposal evaluation, asset valuation techniques and practices. Experience in contract negotiation and management including asset administration. Financial acumen - Management/Cost accounting. Strong Excel, Power Point, Word and Microsoft Project (or other planning software) skills. A consummate professional. Maintains composure when confronted with difficult situations. Highly developed communications and organizational skills. Articulate, persuasive and demonstrates a balance of assertiveness and relationship-building. Travel is expected, and 20% may be required which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
