Sr. Accountant-Reconciliations /Expense Analysis

Carver Bancorp, Inc. is the holding company for Carver Federal Savings Bank, a federally chartered, community-based, publicly traded bank (Ticker symbol: CARV).  Carver operates ten full service branches in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan.

Position Summary:  

Performs a variety of accounting functions including reconciliations, posting and verifying entries to the general ledger, proof and aging reporting, and assisting in closing the monthly general ledger.

 RequirementsProficiency with Excel.Ability to make sound judgments on a day-to-day basis regarding assignments.Good verbal communication skills.Knowledge of accounting principles.Must be flexible to work late nights and weekends if required.

Essential Duties and Critical Responsibilities:Prepare daily general ledger accounting entries.Assist in closing monthly ledger.Reconcile a variety of general ledger accounts.Review general ledger activity in selected accounts.Perform account research as necessary.Prepare expense analysis report on selected accounts.Prepare Proof and Aging report.Assist in accounts payable review.Assist in cash management review and release bank-to-bank and customer wiresConsolidate and Distribute monthly Financials Process Bi-weekly Payroll Process cash settlements of due to due from subsidiaries. Prepare reconciliation of all inter company accounts.Prepare inter-company elimination entries. Oversee one junior accountant.Background/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance a plusPrior accounting experience is required
