Job Description: 

The Senior Bond Payments Associate is responsible for ensuring that principal and interest payments are processed correctly for bonds that are held in streetname by RBC Wealth Management clients. The incumbent's duties will include data entry, processing, reconciling, and maintenance tasks to facilitate payment of principal and interest payments. He or she will review exceptions to processes and will be responsible for solving and/or escalating problems while ensuring compliance with RBC's business practices and policies. This position contains elements of risk to the company and errors can have a legal and/or financial impact on the firm.

Basic Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Finance, a related degree or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of accounting experience. Proficient computer skills in Windows-based software products including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and some experience utilizing Microsoft Access is preferred. Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience in a brokerage operations department. Understanding of the financial services sector and a general knowledge of fixed-income products is desired.


Key Accountabilities:  Monitor various depositories, clearing firms, bank reconciliations, and internal clearing accounts on a daily basis and reconciles differences to ensure accurate and timely payment of bond interest claims. Interact with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), RBC Wealth Management retail sales, correspondents, trading departments, and various departments within Operations. Acts as a liaison between branches, correspondents, trading desks and other operations personnel within RBC and DTCC and/or transfer agents ensuring timely, accurate distribution of dividend payments. Process principal and interest payments. Respond to questions from third parties, other Operations units, retail personnel and management. Address escalated questions independently; seek assistance from Team Lead or Supervisor as appropriate, following established departmental policies. Reduce risk by suggesting process changes and modifications as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
