Does not have direct supervisory responsibility (such as hiring and performance/pay reviews) for project team members, but does provide performance input to team member managers and the Project Office Director. Provides guidance to junior PMO resource staff and Technical Leads as required. Participates in the Project Office Steering Committee (POSC) activities as required. FINANCIAL AND SOFTWARE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serves as Project Manager on small to medium sized projects. 2. Assembles the project team, assigns individual responsibilities, identifies appropriate resources needed to accomplish task, and develops schedules to ensure timely project completion. 3. Participates in strategic planning sessions with both client and management to determine the scope and objectives of each project. 4. Identifies the role of each project team member. 5. Effectively coordinates the activities of the team to meet project milestones. 6. Monitors progress, then updates clients and management on that progress and addresses any conflicts between client expectations and actual work output. 7. Resolves day-to-day operational problems and conflicts and recommends improvements where needed. 8. Assists with Project Management Office (PMO) activities as required. 9. Assists with the implementation and support of PMO standards, processes, and support services as required. 10. Completes other tasks as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent education in a related discipline is required. Related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement. Job Related Experience: Typically requires 3 - 5 years of software development or related experience of which at least 2 years was managing projects. Management Experience: N/A Physical Requirements: N/A Functional Area Skills/Knowledge: 1. Exposure to formal Project Management concepts and/or active participation in Project Management organizations a big plus. 2. Knowledge of Project Management methodologies preferred. 3. Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and software practices required. 4. Familiarity with MS Project and/or other Project Planning software required. 5. Knowledge of Financial Accounting and the financial industry a plus. 6. Organizational and problem-solving skills. 7. Adaptability 8. Good written and verbal communication skills.
