Storage Admin need for contract opening here in Jacksonville, FL.The Storage Administrator will work as part of a team responsible for all aspects of supporting and maintaining a large and dynamic enterprise IT infrastructure. The Merrill Lynch storage architectures encompass the Distributed and Mainframe disciplines, both of which mandate 24x7 availability Responsibilities include (for Mainframe and Distributed)….. • The effective provisioning of storage resources to our clients, insuring continuous application availability to the firm. • Close communication with vendors, clients and members of the IT group (ie.. Hardware, Capacity-Planning, Networking and Software support) to insure business requirements are understood and storage resources allocated effectively. • The administration and periodic testing of Remote Disaster Contingency and Local Backup/Restore procedures, eliminating risk to the firm in the event of data-center or application loss. For Mainframe …. • Setting up and coding of SMS and HSM rules that define effective placement of client disk and tape file allocations. • Insuring rules governing storage use (SMS/DIF/HSM) aligned with business requirements, in that files are archived/deleted from storage with zero impact to applications. • Participation in C&R exercises, using TimeFinder software to create effective testing environments. • Insuring that critical meta-data files (Master and User Catalogs, HSM CDS files, SMS CDS files, CA/1 TMC file, etc.) are functional and business ready. • The setting up of proactive alerts using various software to warn storage-staff or clients when thresholds are being exceeded (ex: Storage pool shortages, Configuration exceptions, VSAM files approaching 4 gigabyte limit, etc.) • Participation in problem resolution regarding mainframe disk and/or tape issues that effect business reliability and continuance. • The testing and implementation of new hardware or software functionality, throughout the mainframe environments (ex: z/Linux, Logical Sub Channel sets, MIDAW) For both Distributed and Mainframe platforms… • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree plus a minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in a large data center complex. • 3+ Years Storage Administration experience • Ability to work with others as a member of a team • Knowledge of disk storage RAID levels and functionality • Experience with enterprise level storage hardware resources (IBM, EMC, HP, Hitachi .. etc) • Familiarity with Contingency Remote data mirroring solutions. • Excellent Communication Skills, including MS/Word and MS/Excel • Ability to isolate, identify and correct problem issues. • 3+ years experience with IBM’s z/OS operating systems in a Parallel Sysplex environment. • Excellent Job Control Language (JCL) skills • 3+ years of experience with IBM mainframe Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD) and related file systems (VSAM, PDS… etc) • 1+ years experience with z/OS master and ICF catalog facilities, including their backup and recovery • 3+ years experience with IBM’s DF/SMS and DF/HSM software products • Familiarity with the CA/1 Tape Management System software • Programming (Rexx, Clist) Please send all qualified resumes to daniel.sullivan@modisit.com .
