MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

2nd level support and DR of Equities trading applications.
Problem troubleshooting, root cause analysis and facilitation of both short and long-term solutions
Problem ownership until resolution
Issue prioritization and escalation
Overnight and weekend on-call responsibilities may occur
In-depth problem analysis
Planning, coordination and execution of production deployment of system upgrades and emergency bug fixes
Functional testing of the system upgrades, as well as disaster recovery tests
User training and documentation
Bug fixes, and other development work as the workload permits for applications not assigned to development groups
Provide ‘Follow the Sun’ support for non-Americas applications.
Shift cover will be required(7:00am – 6:0pm)

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:


Proficient in Unix, Windows environments – min 2+ years of experience.
Proficient in writing SQL queries – 2+ years of solid experience on Oracle/Sybase
Familiarity with Perl and Unix shell scripting
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Technical Support experience

DESIRED WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

2+ years of system support experience under Windows/Unix
Equities Sales and Trading knowledge
Order Management and Exchange Connectivity knowledge

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 
Educated to degree standard, preferably in Computer Science or a numerate subject (however strong candidates from non-numerate disciplines will also be considered).
