Symitar Host Services Manager
Chevron Federal Credit Union is looking for a Symitar Host Services Manager for its headquarters in the City Center area of Oakland, California, near the 12th Street BART station. The person in this position will: lead a team that proactively seeks ways to maximize the organization’s effective use of host system(s); interact with internal groups and end-user clients to assess business needs and requirements; develop strong customer relationship and implements a process to ensure customer satisfaction; plan, organize, direct and control the activities and staff involved in the study, development, integration testing, and installation of host system / host vendor-based data processing systems, including systems analysis, systems design, development, and computer operations, by performing the duties described below.
Responsibilities:
Works with client departments to find efficiency and enhance effectiveness through the automation of processes. Advises the client departments on the use of the organization's products and services to maximize their use of, and satisfaction with, the organization's systems and services.Works with client departments to develop and communicate Service Level Agreements. Ensures adherence to Service Level Agreements through the establishment and monitoring of metrics that are appropriate and reasonable. Defines and manages expectations of end-users. Manages the feedback process to client departments on issues that enhance the end-user’s productivity and self-sufficiency. Identifies and implements monitoring and diagnostic tools to facilitate in problem resolution.Manages the development, testing, and installation of information systems for planning, control, and operational purposes. Manages the installation and service of new modules, new features, new or revised applications, new releases, and associated hardware. Responsible for the development of custom programs and ad-hoc reports as well as the development of the data downloads. Develops and implements a process, employing metrics and quantifiable measures, for evaluating the department’s performance, taking into consideration project management, system performance and uptime, as well as customer satisfaction surveys. Serves as a liaison between the credit union and software vendor or service bureau for all interface concerning the computer and software needs and problems. Involves implementing necessary system changes or enhancements. Prepares operating procedures and issues written and oral instructions to computer operator(s) to ensure maximum productivity and utilization of the host computer. Manages all aspects of host system operations to ensure completion of all job streams. Schedules and performs file resizes at least quarterly. Consults with others (Supervisor, vendors, experts, etc.) about problems such as equipment performance, output quality, and maintenance schedule, and coordinates problem resolution and flow of work between shifts to ensure continuity. Remains abreast of computer technology and trends and informs supervisor of potential improvements in the system that might enhance the credit union’s ability to deliver products and services to members. Maintains complete documentation of operation of host systems. Involves all aspects of operating the system such as tape retention, operator responses, run times, record counts and special form setups. Maintains a tape library to ensure enough tapes for all processing. Ensure all tapes to be retained for recovery and backup are properly stored and available to restore entire system, including monthly and quarter-end processes. Assists in developing and leads the implementation of an IT security policy for host system related concerns, e.g. data security, software security, and disaster recovery. Ensures the efficient and reliable operation of the CFCU PBX. Monitors the performance of the PBX to ensure adequate capacity for future growth. Consults with the various business units to proactively identify their needs, with regards to voice telecommunications, and determines how IS&T can satisfy them. Provides guidance to the business units, in terms of the PBX’s capabilities, and identifies ways that we can use the system to meet their needs.Performs other tasks and duties as the supervisor might, from time to time, assign.Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent in Computer Science or Business from Four‑year College; plus 6 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Five (5) years + of experience in administration and operations of Symitar systems.Experience in designing, programming and maintaining business applications in a Symitar Episys environment utilizing PowerOn (Repgen), SymForms, Symconnect, SQL, and other appropriate programming languages.Strong operations knowledge of IBM RS/6000 and AIX highly desirable.Ability to read and interpret documents produced by the data processing system, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
