System Administrator
Under the general direction of the Vice President of MIS, manages computer networks to ensure efficient and secure data processing throughout the bank. Analyzes, designs, tests and evaluates various network configurations, researches and recommends network, applications, data communication hardware and software purchases. Provides Support to end users for problem resolution in both hardware and software applications, making users changes, additions and deletions as needed. Develop accurate procedures for servicing all systems including upgrades to existing software and implementation of new applications as required by the bank for product and service development.
PREFERENCES:
· Associate’s degree in information systems or equivalent combination of computer courses and business experience.
· MCSE Certification, preferred
· Extensive knowledge of network operating systems, applications and development tools including network management applications, database applications and commercial software products.
· Working knowledge of MS SQL database, Oracle database, Web-based products, routers, intranets, Internet, VoIP, VPN, and Firewalls.
· Minimum of five years experience in network administration.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Thorough understanding of bank operations.
· Ability to work flexible hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manages the bank’s computer systems by:
a. Monitoring system performance and network security through various system logs and reports.
b. Responsible for the coordination, rollout and setup of networks and network applications insuring that appropriate security, change controls and disaster recovery procedures are followed and that end-users are appropriately trained.
c. Investigating and installing upgrades and security patches as needed.
d. Planning and performing back-up procedures for all applications and data.
e. Purchasing and upgrading equipment and software in response to the banks needs.
f. Testing and evaluating hardware and software to determine efficient reliability and compatibility with existing systems.
g. Maintaining software license information for all software applications.
h. Responsible for maintaining the current schematics of the banks network configuration.
i. Planning and testing information technology business resumptions plans as needed.
j. Adding, deleting, and changing user access information as needed.
k. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
l. Assists with the devising and amending of system and security policies.
m. Operating department in sound manner and within information technology budget guidelines.
n. Communicates relevant networking / systems / telecommunication issues to VP –MIS.
2. Troubleshoots and repairs hardware/software problems including servers, workstations, printers, projectors, and telephone equipment.
a. Assist end users to identify and resolve data communications problems with host systems.
b. Maintains a help desk function for end users.
c. Contacts vendors to order parts or make repairs when problems cannot be resolved.
d. Train bank staff on computer security and software program applications as needed.
3. Works closely with the banks data processing servicer to understand system capabilities, configuration of networks, implementing planned programmatic changes, and address ongoing issues and problems as needed.
4. Act as a member of the banks Information Technology Team and Disaster Recovery Team to assist and provide guidance for the bank’s information security procedures and business continuity program.
5. Maintains records of daily security access errors for firewall and local area networks to detect intrusions and performing incident response procedures as necessary.
6. Manage the banks telephone equipment and voice mail systems, working with vendors to make additions and changes to meet bank needs.
7. Identify areas of operation which need upgraded equipment.
8. Confers with staff, users, and management to determine requirements for new systems or modifications.
9. Research future hardware and software considerations to improve efficiency of bank operations and customer support.
10. Assist in supporting other IT related functions in order to maintain system integrity and security, as needed, and in the absence of other IT staff.
11. Attends meetings, seminars, and educational programs pertaining to all aspects of account and technical operations and other job responsibilities.
12. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
