Systems Administrator (JBoss)

Responsibilities:

This successful candidate will be responsible for: -- understanding of business integration concepts and Service Oriented Architecture;- Administration of JBOSS application server as well as WebSphere Applicaton Server versions 5.x.x in an AIX environment as well as a LINUX environment. Responsibilities include software installation, maintenance, fix upgrades, general administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning of Websphere on the AIX platform and the LINUX Platform.-. Perform maintenance and performance tuning activities including Websphere backup/restore and archive configuration tasks, monitoring the size of logs/files and backup/purge as needed, managing the plug-in configuration file (e.g., regenerate, edit, propagate, etc.), tuning performance of WebSphere Application Server (e.g., configure caching, queuing and pooling parameters, tune JVM heap size, etc.) and tuning data source configuration (e.g., connection pooling, timeouts, etc.)- Understand the relationships between applications servers, browser, HTTP server, plug-ins, firewalls, database servers, load balancing, and IP sprayers and ensure that the Websphere environment is operating at optimum levels.- Share 24x7x365 on-call duties with the Websphere team including rotating on-call schedules for multiple environments including production, performance test, test and development environments.- Assist in Websphere application health monitoring in the production environment.This person must have a strong desire to span platforms and be able to meet the challenges of new environments. Requirements:-3+ years experience with JBoss applications server and WebSphere platform components with emphasis on Administration and Architecture.- Experience in AIX and LINUX environment essential.- Knowledge of WebSphere Horizontal/Vertical Clustering.- Basic knowledge of Web Services.- Proven knowledge of information systems best operating practices and methodologies.- Knowledge of monitoring strategies using WebSphere/IBM or other similar tools for WebSphere environment.- Exposure to object oriented analysis/design techniques.- Proven ability to communicate both oral and written information to all levels of an organization. Preferred Skills:Knowledge of MQ middleware very helpful.Administration of Load-Balancing devices, external DNS and Proxy servers helpful.
