Systems Engineer (66) - Lynn

This position is part of the team that is responsible for design, configuration, and support of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 servers, Novell Netware servers, and RedHat Linux servers. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills which will be utilized while interacting with cross functional teams as well as SE team members. This position is responsible for performing system engineering services including: design, implementation, configuration, maintenance and support for hardware, operating systems and applications; security policy implementation; participation in completing customer change requests and escalated problem ticket resolution. Duties include: Serve as a hands-on Systems Engineer Work with team to recommend and implement enhancements to the existing infrastructure by working in a structured and systematic fashion gathering requirements, designing the implementation and then implementing the upgrades/changes. Apply an engineering thought process to the design and implementation of technology solutions. Identify and plan the implementation and conversion to new technologies relating to servers and networks. Respond to Level-3 technical issues as needed. Manage/troubleshoot servers in remote locations as well as local. Configure, maintain and troubleshoot server-class hardware. Ascertain stability of server and network operations using sound troubleshooting and diagnostic skills as well as personal experience and restore to proper functioning levels as needed. Administer and maintain a SAN on a daily basis Document technology standards to align the Bank with industry based Best Practices. Undertake and ensure network security at the enterprise level. Ability and willingness to be on-call and respond to emergencies Participate in projects to migration from Novell to Microsoft.Required SkillsDemonstrated ability to implement, and own scalable technology solutions. Comprehensive understanding of Active Directory intimately from an engineering and administrative standpoint, including knowledge of best practices as well as knowledge of intrinsic and 3rd party tools. Ability to participate in a Directory Services Migration from Netware to Active Directory Must be analytical, well organized and self-directed. Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making. Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks. Ability to manage small-medium technology projects Strong skills in TCP/IP networking and security are required. Required ExperienceUndergraduate computer science degree or equivalent experience preferred. 2 - 5years experience in an engineering and support role managing a heterogeneous environment. Must have engineer level of experience managing various technologies including Windows Servers, Linux, and NetWare environments. Active Directory Design and Migration project experience. Experience in RedHat Linux.
