Underwriting Analyst

The nation’s first and only private real estate investment trust (REIT) dedicated to the preservation of affordable housing, is seeking an Analyst to join its Underwriting Division who is looking to make a commitment to community development.

 

POSITION TITLE                 Underwriting Analyst

 

BASIC FUNCTION: The preferred candidate will support the transactional flow of the company’s investments in affordable housing throughout the United States. By managing the due diligence process, vital property-level information must be collected to create and analyze various cash flow valuation models and assist in making investment decisions. A high degree of accuracy is required due to the short deadlines imposed by an aggressive real estate marketplace.

 

Experience level:  This position is entry level.  Preference will be given to candidates with strong analytical skills, work experience and/or relevant internship in real estate.

 

REPORTS TO:  Vice President - Underwriting

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

For a wide variety of rental housing and community development investment opportunities, the analyst will be responsible for:

·                    Analyzing financial and non-financial capacity of lenders, borrowers, general and limited partners.

 

·                    Analyzing existing reports, such as market studies, appraisals, environmental.

 

·                    Performing market research on both a regional and submarket basis

 

·                    Analyzing and manipulating financial proformas for potential investments and performing sensitivity analyses. 

 

·                    Collecting information externally from CDT’s partners to complete the due diligence function.

 

·                    Preparing credit memos to recommend purchase of loans or equity interests to both an internal credit committee and a credit committee of Board members.

 

 

Requirements:

·                    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, economics, or related field

 

·                    Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills.

 

·                    Excellent organization skills with consistent attention to details.

 

·                    Excellent written communication skills.

 

·                    Strong analytical and problem solving skills needed to make recommendations to the senior acquisitions staff.
