Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule Hours per week: 40 Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm Qualifications 4 yr. BS/BA Degree, engineering or computer science preferred. 5 yrs. exp. in supporting AIX or Linux technologies; auto-provisioning, clustering, LPARs, VM's, and capacity/performance management. 3 yrs exp. in management position of highly-technical workforce. Ability to implement approved technology strategies from concept to provisioning and 7x24 operational practice. One or more professional certifications; AIX, Veritas, Redhat, VMWare, EMC, SQC/SPC or ITIL. Proven leadership with team of highly technical personnel in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities UNIX Operations Team Leader is responsible for day to day supervision of 9 UNIX administrators (vacation coverage, sickness, morale, HR issues, task completions), who support over 500 production servers in an exciting, fast-pace, high-growth environment. He is responsible to communicate major system outages to senior managers and apprise of current situation and solutions for remediation, and train junior members on capacity forecasting, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and automation. Team Leader reports to Manager of UNIX Services and must have excellent communication skills, be able to present concise technical briefs to senior managers, have outstanding problem determination abilities, and accurately convey to upper management on aspects of the UNIX Operations team. Detailed responsibilities include: He/She will annually complete employee performance reviews and merit increases and ensure a positive career path for all direct-report colleagues, and onboard new colleagues to ensure their success at the bank . They must provide recommendations to senior UNIX management for training courses and colleagues best-fit for given technologies. The will need to report on UNIX Operations team workload, morale, performance, and assist in mentoring/career guidance for these team members. They will recommend to senior UNIX management promotions, adhoc salary increases, and performance bonuses, as well as when incremental resources are required, and track those with our Contingent Workforce (onboarding, etc), and UNIX budget. The candidate will ensure UNIX Operations goals coincide with corporate/Enterprise Technology/UNIX Services objectives, and ensure UNIX Ops maintains an extremely high-level of customer service and efficiency (automation, inter-team communication, process improvement). He or she will organize and lead teams during company expansion activities. They will need to ensure all BCP/DR and Audit activities are properly documented, executed, and reported for UNIX systems, and provide gap-analysis for increasing availability targets for current Production systems, in special regards to main customer channels. The manager of the UNIX Operations team will need to ensure vendor hardware and OS support contracts are maintained, organized, and properly executed. The will regularly engage vendor account executives on hardware refresh initiatives, planning, and production support issues and must be have a solid understanding of vendor management. They will recommend process and/or technical improvements during root-cause analysis to avoid service interruption. The candidate must be technical enough to provide guidance on patching methodology improvements, and streamline stable patch rollouts to all UNIX servers to align with an 'N-1' System Services patching strategy. They will work closely with the UNIX Team Lead, Project Delivery, on transitions of new systems over to Production, and for assignment of Production system upgrades/changes, and new initiatives where Ops resources can be utilized. They must also work closely with the UNIX Team Lead, Architecture, to ensure new designs meet all Production standards and plan support resources for these new initiatives. Other duties required are 1) Attendance at Production Readiness meetings as needed to ensure new systems are up to UNIX Production requirements; 2) Ensure all Major Outages are addressed within the SLA, escalate to senior managers no later than 45 minutes after initiation of the bridge, and collect/provide solutions for remediation during root-cause analysis; 3) Ensure system security procedures are followed, and bare-metal restore capability of system operating environments are maintained; and 4) Attend or ensure attendance at weekly Change Control, Problem Day in Review, and Week in Review meetings. They must be able to assist admins with forming action plans for remediation of repeated service degradations/outages .
