CBS has partnered with this client which represents a quality driven organization committed to producing defect-free packaging for the pharmaceutical, health care and personal care markets. In addition to its core markets, they also serve the liquor and tobacco industries. They offer all their customers a one resource for bundled services as they also have an Advertising and Creative Services division which is a full-service, in-house advertising agency. Their goal is to integrate packaging, design and advertising to provide a unique 'Total Marketing Communications' solution.POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to direct production operations and processes for the appropriate department. Plans and maintains production schedules. Measures progress by established standards of performance. Recognizes and solves problems affecting production including schedules, staff, quality, and order of production line. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non¬-usable, slow moving and excess stock. • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels. • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories. • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies. • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow. • Issues written and oral instructions. • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances. • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. • Adjusts error and complaints. • Assists with overall plant success. • Assists with overall plant quality performance. • Maintains and oversees shift quality performance. • Responsible for Pre- and post-shift communication between managers, supervisors and operators. • Audit preparedness on a daily basis. • Safety and housekeeping checklists performed daily and turned in to plant manager. • Executes daily priorities to employees • Safety involvement through discussions, accident reports, prevention and committee. • Reporting, tracking and following through on maintenance problems. • Increasing speed of department machines while maintaining quality. • Evaluating, developing and maintaining flexible staffing. • Reduction of daily and weekend overtime through improved efficiencies. • Supporting make-ready reduction in each appropriate department • Evaluating employees thoroughly and on time. Giving feedback regularly to employees. • Execution of the PM program. PMs complete and on time. • Supporting and improving launches. • Responding to the CARs in a timely fashion • Use of progressive discipline for job performance improvement. • Stable job assignments for operators so operators get to know machines and so their performance can be more easily evaluated. • Providing thorough training as necessary and timely in response to CARs and other requirements.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: • This role requires the individual to successfully supervise a team of production employees. This includes responsibility for directing the work flow, properly deploying the staff to meet objectives, motivation and developing direct reports, developing a work schedule which provides proper production coverage, performance reviews and appraisals, and recommendations of merit increases.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This role requires a High School Diploma or GED, or Bachelors Degree in Business is preferred. Must have computer skills. 5+ years departmental supervisor experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment. LANGUAGE SKILLS: This role requires the ability to read and understand written English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This role requires the ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including decimal and fraction conversions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sit/stand for long periods of time. • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are a demand of this position.WORK ENVIRONMENT: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be near mechanical parts and equipment. • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
