Application Developer - 7221KT

New England Biolabs is seeking highly motivated candidates to join the software development team as an Application Developer. The primary responsibilities for this position are to design, develop, test, deliver, and maintain applications for use by various business units within the company as well as by NEB's customers. You will also collaborate within the software development team and the greater IT department.
 
Design: Participate in requirements gathering meetings. YTalk to users and members of various departments to assess their needs and base design decisions on those conversations. Deliver documents related to the business needs and technical design of each application.
 
Develop: You will take the documents created in the design phase and turn them into functioning applications (primarily web-based) using an existing library of tools and your own design ideas.
 
Test: Write test plans and perform your own unit and black-box testing.
 
Deliver: You will be responsible for delivering milestones on an agreed time table. You will write the deployment plan, help install the application and troubleshoot installation issues.
 
Collaborate: You will work with a small group of developers and a larger group of IT personnel.
 
Technical Qualifications:
 * Must have substantial experience writing web application using one or more of the following development languages: VB.NET (dotNET Framework v1.1) and/or C# (dotNET Framework v1.1); experience with dotNET Frameworks v2.0, v3.0 and/or v3.5 is a plus
* Must have proven experience creating web-based forms with HTML and CSS; an understanding of the CSS box-model is a plus
* Must have experience writing JavaScript
* Must be familiar with cross-platform and cross-browser web-based development issues
* Must have substantial experience working with MS SQL Server 2000; must have experience designing databases (including tables, data relationships, and stored procedures) and writing data migration scripts; experience with MS SQL 2005 and/or 2008 is a plus
* Must have experience configuring web applications on Microsoft IIS 5.0, 6.0
* Must be familiar with Visual Source Safe 6
* Must be familiar with MS SharePoint 2007
* Must have experience with Visio
* Experience developing with MS Access, Filemaker Pro, php, MySQL and other skills will be beneficial but are not required
