Assay Development Specialist

Qualifications: BS or MS in biological sciences (biology, biotechnology, cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, etc.) with at least 2-3 plus years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience.

Responsibilities: The candidate will work with a PhD level scientist to develop immunoassays for use on Singulex ErennaTM System Immunoassay platform. This is a high-visibility, hands-on bench laboratory position where the candidate will design experiments, perform the experiments, analyze resultant data, write reports and present results to peers within Singulex, academic partners and corporate partners. The candidate will need to follow established assay development standard operating procedures (SOPs) in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Analysis of human specimens (such as serum and plasma) for specific analytes using Singulex or other immunoassays will be required.

Required experience: The candidate must have at least two to three years of prior laboratory experience and be knowledgeable in immunoassay methods used for protein analysis. Specifically, the candidate must have spent > 50% of their laboratory experience either developing and/or performing immunoassays. Experience with at least one of the following assay formats is required: ELISA, bead (e.g. Luminex platform), or ECL (e.g. Bioveris/Mesoscale Discovery platform). The candidate must be knowledgeable in basic assay design principles as well as possess a basic understanding of antibodies and antibody-antigen interactions. This includes preparing solutions, buffers and reagent mixtures. The candidate needs to have a track record of being able to work in a fast-paced environment, with shifting priorities and deliverables. Experience in developing clinical diagnostic assays and/or working with laboratory automation is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word programs is essential.
