Associate Director - Biosurgicals RD - (Job Number: 0802632) DescriptionEthicon, Inc. develops and markets products for surgery; wound management and advanced wound care treatment. Products are marketed through three divisions: Ethicon Products for precise wound closure and tissue repair; Ethicon Women's Health & Urology for minimally invasive women's health procedures; and Johnson & Johnson Wound Management for hemostasis and advanced wound care. Ethicon, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting for an Associate Director, Biosurgicals R&D, located in Somerville, NJ. The Associate Director will lead new product development projects in Biosurgicals and Percutaneous Protection. Lead product innovation in Biosurgicals and Percutaneous Protection to enrich the product pipeline to meet and exceed the strategic plan and will be the key interface to WW Marketing on strategic alignment and to optimize new product development programs. Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to manage risk and to shift project roadblocks such as resources constraints, trade-offs, communications issues, etc. Attract, recruit, and develop technical talents, champion the utilization of Process and Design Excellence methodologies and interact with global surgeon community and other key customers to identify unmet needs and implement programs to address opportunities. A minimum of a Bachelors degree within Polymer Science & Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or other related discipline is required. A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in an applied R&D environment, FDA regulated environment is required. A familiarity with regulations and requirements for the development of medical devices is preferred. An established track record of new product introductions in the medical device industry or FDA regulated industry is required. Experience in leading and managing teams of scientists and engineers with direct reporting responsibilities is required. Strong strategic thinking skills and highly developed problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with surgeon customers and associates at all levels of the organization, proven ability to foster a productive team-oriented environment, to handle multiple assignments, and display the flexibility required excelling in an environment with rapidly shifting priorities. Must have passion and enthusiasm for innovation to inspire associates to be creative and a tested philosophy and methodology for innovating new products.
