Our Research and Development team has significant experience in metabolic diseases and is focused on investigating the biological actions and utilities of bioactive peptides and other compounds as potential drug candidates. Currently, we have a great opportunity for a highly motivated professional to lead/manage the program to implement and sustain Lean processes and thinking to facilitate operational excellence and continuous improvement within Amylin’s Operations and Quality Departments.

Responsibilities:

General -
The Lean Program Leader will be responsible for re-engineering current manufacturing, quality and administrative processes following lean methodologies to drive improvements in productivity, cost, cycle time, efficiency, and quality and overall supply chain reliability. Techniques used will include Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, Kaizen, SPC, Kanban, work balancing, value stream mapping and production flow models.

Strategic Vision -
Provide the strategic vision for the Lean Deployment process. Recommend, develop and implement Lean principles that enhance the effectiveness of manufacturing, quality and administrative operations. Establish both short and long-term (2-5 yr) strategies and implementation plans that will allow Amylin to adopt and benefit from Lean principles.

Performance Management-
Develop and implement performance metrics for Lean processes in the support of the overall business strategies and goals. Track and validate all savings attributed to the Lean deployment.

Training-
Champion radical change that pushes for continual improvement in alignment with Operations/Quality strategic plan. Train and sustain the workforce on all aspects of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Communication-
Develop and implement communication tools to foster the Lean environment and enhance a Lean culture.

This position requires:

• A BA/BS in engineering or other relevant technical field (MBA from a reputable school preferred)
• At least 10 years of experience within a notable, manufacturing based company
• At least 5 years of experience implementing and leading Lean based programs/projects
• A strong business acumen
• Technical expertise in Lean principles (5’s, Kaizen, process mapping, etc.)
• Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt
• PC proficiency with MS Office
• Excellent analytical, planning, organizational, problem solving, leadership, and written/verbal communication skills.
