Position Description:
Description:Job Summary:Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning, the Associate Director of Finance and Cost Analysis will be a strong business partner of the manufacturing and purchasing teams. The Associate Director will oversee the planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting of manufacturing operations and purchasing, ensure accounting data and financial statements are accurately prepared in a timely manner, and will lead cost teams at all manufacturing locations. This role will provide leadership for the cost accounting group and for the company as a whole in the areas of cost analysis, cost accounting, and cost optimization. In addition, the Associate Director will oversee the application of cost accounting theory and work with external auditors to ensure that the cost accounting and reporting adheres to GAAP standards. Strong management and leadership skills are critical to achieving success, as the Associate Director will lead a growing team of 6 employees. Job duties include but are not limited to:• For all locations, develop uniform reporting packages and processes which align with corporate policies, ensure locations are accountable for consistent practices and procedures.• Analyze and interpret gross margins, cost variances, inventory movements, and other accounting reports as they relate to cost; review and present cost analysis on a monthly basis to finance and manufacturing teams; develop corrective actions where needed • Responsible for global cycle counts and inventory reconciliation; assist in the development of new processes for global expansion and inventory movement • Lead quarterly and annual audits by the external auditors, including review and explanations of activity as required • Participate in the maintenance of internal financial controls, thereby ensuring accurate financial statements and safeguarding company assets • Support / drive process improvement initiatives: process definition, accounting and reporting metrics, new product releases, inventory controls, BOMs and routings, budgeting and forecasting, cycle count program and metrics• Recommend and lead changes in cost accounting methods and procedures Education and Experience:• Successful track record of effectively interfacing with manufacturing and management and bringing them value-added ideas and information to improve profitability • BS in Accounting or Finance • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a cost accounting role in a manufacturing environment • Strong analytical background as it pertains to understanding and explaining manufacturing variances as well as other types of analysis such as volume-price-mix, etc. • Strong hands-on experience with an ERP system; JDEdwards is a plus • Proficient at analyzing causes of variances and can recommend corrective actions • Solid communication skills-both orally and written
