Associate Director, Messaging

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, MESSAGING

This role is responsible for strategic positioning and messaging and will work closely with Chief Marketing Officer and other senior executives to articulate Affymetrix corporate positioning and messaging. Other responsibilities include:

*Develop and execute overall messaging platform and messaging documents for the company, by product line, per product for launches and outbound campaigns for high impact to sales and customers
*Work closely with the Product Marketing and Segment marketing groups to articulate strategic positioning and messaging. Develops messaging documents, templates and enable best practices.
*Understand the customer’s needs and requirements
*Create and disseminate effective messaging to customers and prospects that further differentiates Affymetrix's as a leader in the category
*Champion that key product features and benefits are consistently communicated
*Ensure that the brand is conveyed consistently through all communication forms (and media). Lead all creative strategy in developing effective communications activities.
*Constantly evaluate each marketing effort and continually hone and improve.

The following are key attributes required for the selection process:

*Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
*MBA preferred, but not required.
*5 to 7 years of progressively responsible marketing experience, including direct responsibility for:
*Strategic marketing and message development / execution
*Proven project management experience with a cross-functional team
*Track record of effective messages to sales, customers and internally
*Exceptional ability to translate and simplify technical and product features into customer benefits
*Strong analytical and business judgment skills.
*Outstanding written and oral communications skills, for use in developing strategic messaging, product-related messaging and sales messaging.
*Proven maturity and good judgment in hearing competing ideas, driving consensus within Affymetrix, and synthesizing many ideas into coherent, compelling and actionable messages and programs.
